Introduction
Act Your Rage Therapies is one of the more thoughtfully conceived venues in this space; and that's not something you can say about many places where the main activity involves smashing a television with a baseball bat. Founded by Katie Hoyle, a qualified counsellor, the venue was born out of her professional work with trauma survivors and a genuine belief in the therapeutic value of having a safe, contained space to physically express anger. It's been featured on BBC Spotlight and has worked with local organisations including the Women's Centre Cornwall, which gives it a credibility and purpose that sets it apart from most. Located at Par Moor Road between St Austell and Par, it holds the distinction of being Cornwall's first dedicated smash room.

What can you smash?
There are two separate rooms available, each bookable independently, making this a solid option whether you're going solo, as a pair, or want to run two groups simultaneously. Sessions run for 30 minutes, and you'll need to arrive 15 minutes beforehand to get suited up in your safety gear and sign the waiver before going in. The rooms are stocked with a genuinely varied mix of breakables; wine bottles, electronics, TVs, washing machines and more, many of which are sourced through donations and charity shops, which is a nice touch. Items that can't be resold or recycled get a second, rather more dramatic life here.
What to wear?
Comfort and coverage are the priorities. Long sleeves are recommended, and you'll want clothes you can move freely in. All protective equipment (gloves, helmet, boots and coveralls) is provided on-site, so you'll be properly kitted out before you step inside.
